HOW
DO I... OBTAIN
TELEPHONE ADVICE?
Some problems can be sorted out on
the telephone. If you wish to talk to the doctor, leave your telephone number
with the receptionist with a brief outline of the problem. The doctor can then
telephone you after surgery is finished.
HOW
DO I... MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT?
All consultations are by appointment
only - telephone reception to arrange one.
If you wish to see a particular doctor,
please tell the receptionist this when you book.
It may not be possible to consult a particular
doctor of your choice when you require an urgent appointment.
We will always see urgent cases the
same day. Each doctor has a few appointments every day which are reserved for
this purpose. Please DO NOT abuse these
appointments. Remember that they are in place to make sure that you and your children
can be seen without delay when necessary.
CANCELLATIONS
Please notify us as soon as possible
if you cannot keep your appointment, which can then be offered to someone else.
HOW
DO I... OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT?
Telephone the surgery (before 10.00am
if possible) and give the receptionist details of the problem. They may ask you
about your symptoms so the doctor can assess the degree of urgency. Home visits
are very time consuming and sometimes surgery facilities may be needed for fuller
examinations and tests, so please help us by coming to the surgery whenever possible.
Difficulty with transport is NOT
in itself a valid reason to request a home visit.
HOW
DO I... OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS?
When you undergo blood tests or X-rays,
ensure that you ask when the result will be available and from whom you should
obtain the result. If you make an appointment for the specific purpose of obtaining
a test result, tell the receptionist so that she can have the result ready for
the doctor. In order to maintain confidentiality, test results will only be given
to patients themselves, or parents of minors if appropriate, when satisfactory
identification has been obtained by the receptionist. |
