Patients' Charter

The Department of Health has introduced the Patients' Charter which sets out quality standards for all areas involved in the provision of health care. Naturally we hope that the service we provide will always comply with these standards. A copy of the charter is kept in the practice.

Suggestions And Complaints

The philosophy of the practice is:

`To offer quality service, as recognised by patients and staff, by providing and developing primary health care effectively and efficiently using a team approach, maximising resources to the optimum benefit of patient health.'

You can see therefore that we aim to provide a high quality service and are very interested in hearing any constructive comments you may have.

The practice has an informal complaints procedure and we always welcome the opportunity to deal with any part of our service that is causing you concern.

Please contact our practice manager - Mr Colin Bateman - by letter, telephone or in person to take advantage of this service. Your complaint will be investigated quickly and Mr Bateman will advise you of the findings within 14 days. You will also be advised on how to proceed should you wish to take your complaint to the Health Authority.

Patient Confidentiality And Data Protection

We ask you for personal information so that you can receive care and treatment. This information is recorded on computer and we are registered under the Data Protection Act. The practice will ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times by all members of the practice team. However, for the effective functioning of a multi-disciplinary team, it is sometimes necessary that medical information about you is shared between members of the practice team.

Freedom Of Information - Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication Scheme is a guide to the ‘classes’ of information the practice intends to routinely make available.
This scheme is available from reception.

Zero Tolerance

We strongly support the NHS policy on zero tolerance. Anyone attending the surgery who abuses the GPs, staff or other patients be it verbally, physically or in any threatening manner whatsoever, will risk removal from the practice list. In extreme cases we may summon the police to remove offenders from the practice premises.
